New Mexico : Pictures in this gallery were taken at Bandera Volcano, Bandelier Monument, and the Wildlife West Nature Park in New Mexico in late November. The weather was clear and cold and it was amazing that at all three locations I was the only visitor at the time and had the run of the parks.

Aruba : Third trip with just the Canon G11, this camera still amazes me with it's infrared capability. Only little nit picks that I hope get fixed when the G13 comes out (not looking to get the G12), allow for longer than 15 sec shutter speeds and make the filter adapter a larger diameter so when at wide angle you don't get the "telescope" effect by seeing the end of the adapter.

Romania : Romania is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. It rained a majority of the time which gives most of the photography a moody feel. We stayed in Brasov which is in the mountains and the temperature was around 60 degrees fahrenheit which was a big relief to the 102+ degrees we were experiencing in Texas. This trip I decided again to bring only the Canon G11 because of the size and weight. Lugging a bunch of gear up 1480 steps to the top of Poenari didn't sound like fun as ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain... Once again the G11 did a beautiful job.

Cancun - Chichen Itza - Tulum - Canon G11 : All photos were shot with the Canon G11. This was an exercise to see if the G11 could be used in place of a full blown DSLR. To make the shoot as real as possible, the G11 was the only camera I took so I wouldn't be tempted to bring out the DSLR's. The only thing I can knock about the G11 was no cool starburst on lights with long exposures, and the shutterlag (not bad but not great either). The fact that it could also shoot infrared (hoya r72 filter), was also a major bonus. All in all I was very impressed with this little wonder, could this replace a big DSLR on a vacation, judge for yourself....
